The President’s Corner July 2004
By Dan O’Barr, KL7DR
Well the 2004 ARRL
field was a great success for MARA, except for the BBQ. It was just too stinking hot! I want to thank all those who showed up and
especially Tim, NL7SK, Ray, KL1IL, and others who helped setup and
cleanup. Also a big THANK YOU to Ken,
KL7VE, and Jim, NL7C, for bringing their vehicles so we could make HF contacts,
and they were the ramrods for the very successful VE testing session.
Here are a couple of shots from MARA's field day 2004 at
Cottonwood Creek Elementary School in Wasilla. We had over 20 Hams stop by
Saturday, but not all at the same time. In the group photo from left to right
are: Ray N7CFF, Jim NL7C, Paul KC2BYX, Ken KL7VE, Dan KL7DR, Dave AL2I (who had
just passed all 4 elements to get his Amateur Extra ticket), and Pat Warber (a
scanner enthusiast who is studying to get his license). Behind the group is
KL7VE's hybrid Toyota Prius that supplied a lot of power for our station, and NL7C’s mobile HF station, complete with orange VW bus. The other shot is me, KL7DR, working SO-50 while Paul, Dave, and Buff look on.
Take care & 73,
Dan O'Barr, KL7DR
